Nuclear Energy Teaching Laboratory, National Ching Hua University
With a total floor space of 12,460 sq.m. and a construction cost of NT$177,310,000, this laboratory supports the research and instruction of two departments: Atomic Science and Nuclear Engineering. Radioactive material is used in some of the laboratories, creating radioactive waste which is collected and discharged into a custom sewage system then dilutes, neutralizes, and sends it to a special University water treatment plant. The laboratory was completed in November, 1993. The Okano Laboratory, originally located on the site, was demolished to make room for this new structure. The University built a Memorial Tower featuring a radioactivity detector and monitor at north plaza of the site to commemorate its past.
