Training Building, China Grain Products Research and Development Institute
The China Grain Products Research and Development Institute provides training for the processing of food made of flour and specializes in research and development for grain type food. The design of the building is inspired by the client’s attitude towards “food”, which is honest, straightforward, clear, frugal and realistic.
To transform the technique of flour product processing into architectural design, the team created the food processing spaces which reflect the heartfelt sensations of the trainer and trainee, with the following prerequisites:
1. A concentrated and effective plan with minimum destruction of the natural environment.
2. A north-south orientation to provide a comfortable learning environment.
3. A variety of recessed and projecting balconies (for cooling or heating the food), to increase the possibilities of conversation with nature.
4. An exterior design which partially adopts the building material and/or vocabulary of the original building, to show respect for the existing environment.
