Wanda Urban Renewal Project
Situated in Alley 322, Wanda Road, Wanhua District, this building is an urban renewal project surrounded with two elementary schools, Dongyuan and Wanda. The design concepts include:
1. Living units all face south to maximize the energy-saving efficiency.
2. The layout for each living unit is desirable north/south orientation for better natural light adaption and ventilation.
3. Natural lights and ventilation are adapted at each floor to create a bright space and energy-saving.
4. Extend the distance between two buildings to minimize the pressure and secure the privacy.
The elevation design is based on fashion boutiques’ checkered pattern to develop the entire layout and coloring. The team aims to create a poise & modern façade via two main colors and integrate into the building’s grid vocabulary.
In lighting design, the main concept is to deliver an unsophisticated image of the building itself. The team also intends to create a visual focus via the vertical lights on the façade to fit the outline of the skyline design.
